Reconcile

True up files after settings changes

Changing an output path template, toggling podcast mode, or changing sidecar/filename settings doesn't touch files that are already downloaded. A reconcile run trues them up without explicitly re-downloading all media: it moves and renames existing files to match the current settings, rebuilds missing NFO/info.json sidecars from stored metadata, and deletes sidecar files whose setting is now turned off. Nothing changes until you review the report below and apply it. YouTube API is not used for any steps.

  • Local only — moves and renames existing files and rebuilds NFO/info.json sidecars from stored metadata. No network.
  • Online mode — everything Local does, plus backfills sidecars that were never downloaded (missing thumbnails and subtitles) with one yt-dlp fetch per affected video per missing item. Note: Subtitles are rarely available and can easily double the time and effort required to implement your plan—consider whether they’re truly necessary.
  • Full sync — everything Online does, plus schedules a full media re-download for items whose on-disk format no longer matches the profile (an audio-only vs video switch, or a container change — e.g. the profile now produces .mkv but the file is .mp4; a video profile with no explicit container produces .mp4). Re-downloads run after the reconcile finishes and do use bandwidth — review the Re-downloads list before applying. Note: Changes to resolution or embedded features are not detected; the only way to address this is to force a Redownload Everything at the source level.
